Bali - Village above the clouds (Desa Atas Awan)

Village above the clouds is a relatively new eco-hotel that opened last year 2012,
in Nov/Dec by Josep and his partner. It was a private property owned by a family,
they bought it and set it up to be the current Desa Atas Awan/ Village above the clouds.

I know wtf right.
You know every time we go to a place, it is triggered or sparked by something/a pushing force.
THIS was my trigger.

It is located at a higher altitude in Munduk area of Bali.
In the afternoon, temperature ranges from 30-33degrees but still comfortable.
In the mornings, evenings and nights, it is a cool weather of 15 to 24 degrees.
The air was cool and fresh and there was no need for air conditioning in the rooms!

There are only 5 rooms in the resort, and I like it for that cos it feels exclusive and personal
at a luxury level of comfort and service.

I hope VAC stays this way.

In the mornings, we will have breakfast,
then we will walk around the area.
In the day, we walk to nearby hot spring, waterfall, and a small river stream.
In the evening, we sit around by the benches or on the grass just chatting and chilling.

Just lazing on 2 bean bags

The common dining area.

On the right hut is where Josep stays in.
His office is on the top level where it is just two chairs and his macbook,
and there is a window that overlooks the whole resort and fields.
What an awesome environment to be working in right, jealous....

Our outdoor jacuzzi that we did not use

Level 1 is where we spend most of our time for breakfast, lunch, dinner and after-dinner lounging out.

If you choose to stay here, you will be basically eating all 3 meals here.
But I got to say every meal was excellent, very thoughtfully and carefully designed and prepared,
with organic ingredients and eco stuffs.... *limited vocabulary*

For dinner, they alternate among Balinese, Mediterranean, International.
But I loved the Balinese dinner for the fried corn fritters, chicken curry and grained rice.

Just Jo about to murder the chips.

My favourite bomb-diggity bread with butter and jam.

Jo's favourite banana pancake with coconut shreds and brown sugar drizzle.

Kopi Luwak, the most exotic expensive coffee in the world.
Yup, we ordered it without finding out what it is.
It is actually made from coffee beans eaten and excreted by some raccoon looking animal.
I don't want to think about it anymore.

Like I said, all the meals are extremely good.
Even normal nasi goreng or nasi padang taste heavenly.

And this is just wafts of clouds passing by.

The one-hour walk to hot spring and waterfall:

Even though it was an hour walk there, and an hour walk back,
it feels pretty healthy and we see lots of stuffs on the way.

I love walking on the ledge beside the narrow stream.
Clean natural water fascinates me.

And we reached the hot spring!!!!

Is it normal to feel happy as I do when looking walking through rows and rows of cabbages

After lunch, we tried to follow the small streams and find a bigger water source.
It did lead to a bigger stream but when Josep mentioned RIVER, I expected a bigger river.
But nonetheless, the streams were still very pretty,
people were bathing nude, washing clothes, kids were frolicking around just playing.
No pictures because there were people not wearing clothes!

Okay, ciao!
